An historic day in Boston

Jess and I were in Boston today for the marathon.

Geoffrey Mutai set a new course record of 2:03:02 (fastest marathon EVER)!!!

More impressive, in my opinion, was Ryan Hall's 2:04:48--a new American record! He absolutely crushed his PR...and by coaching himself.

I missed it. Sounds like it will go down in history as one of the most controversial races in history: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/19/sports/19amdur.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

21 MPH tail wind!?! Perhaps Ryan Hall does have some special relationship with the man upstairs.

is it an or a historic day?

Both are acceptable. Whether to use a or an is based on the sound of the word, not the spelling. This is why we say an hour and not a hour. Now do you have anything meaningful to share about the content of this post?

Tailwind or not, those times are insane. Hall lead for the majority of the race. Right from the start, Hall was out front pushing the pace. I don't know what Hall's splits were, but let's say that he ran even 1:02:30/1:02:30. That's a minute and a half faster than his half marathon time only 1 month ago! He finished 27th or something in 1:04:00. What a turnaround.
