For Athletes, an Invisible Traffic HazardAn interesting article about impacts of air pollution on the outdoor athlete. Sounds like running in the woods with the deer flies is a better bet than huffing fossil fuel on the roads. Go figure.
Best line in article: “I ride my bike back and forth to work every day,” he said. “If everyone else did that, too, we
wouldn’t be having this problem at all, would we?”

Great article. I don't think my roughly 1 year of running in Central Park will have much of an effect on my long-term health. That is, I certainly hope not. Central Park is closed to traffic before and after a certain hour. I think it's open only during rush hours. Most of my runs were around the reservoir, off the road; however, some of my runs were on the road that circles Central Park as cars whizzed by me. This doesn't worry me much, because the human body is resilient. We have mechanisms to defend against this type of exposure. I think it's the constant, long-term exposure that might cause a problem(s).
