At the last 1/2 mile of my long run today I screwed up my knee again. Same shootin pain as before and now a dull ache. I'll try to run on tuesday but I'm not optimistic. Very disappointing. Very stupid of me to be doing so much mileage on pavement, butni figured I better get ready for it since MDI is all pavement. And maybe too much to soon.

Oh no! Hope you heal quickly. What's MDI?
Nice run, Dan, but sorry to hear about the pain. Roll, ice, stretch. As long as you do these things, it's unlikely that it'll become a chronic problem again. Had you been managing the injury during the training, or is this the first time that you've felt it?
I've been following your progress on your log and see that you're running pretty easy miles for you (fast for me). That's good. Get back on the trails for a while until the pain resolves.
MDI= Mount Desert Island marathon in Acadia
I've done three painful foam roller sessions yesterday and today and feeling better. Rode my bike to work today and felt ok. Will try to run tomorrow and find out.
Did a couple runs this week and knee felt ok. Today I did a tough trail run at west rock. Bruised the bottom of my left foot. NB Minimus may be too minimal for rocky trails with acorn to baseball size rocks.
I will try to do one more 20 miler next weekend and then take it easy for two weeks before the marathon.
Good update. Hope the 20 miler goes well so you can cross Maine off your list a few weeks later.
If the Nipmuck Marathon doesn't kill me this weekend, I will see you at MDI. and maybe Ghost Run on November 3rd?
If the ghost run is on an unpaved trail I will do it. Post results/report after you do the nipmuck marathon this weekend. Stay focused on your feet. Good luck,
