I'm not particularly happy with the the place I just moved into, but I can do a 16 mile loop on almost entirely non-paved surface from my front door. My run today was good. The trails were almost completely snow/ice free and the weather was perfect. Unfortunately it sounds like that is going to change tonight.
I could have used some more water and another GU. I miscalculated in estimating how long the run would take me by about 30 minutes. After about 1.5 hours I was thinking "either I'm running really slow, or this is much longer than 16 miles". Turns out 16 miles x 8min/mile= 128minutes, not 108 minutes.
The nipmuck trail north of Chaffeeville Rd. is much harder running than the trails around Mansfield Hollow. Not marked clearly, roots, rocks, lots of stream crossings, etc. Also lots of snow/ice under the hemlocks.

Nice! Have fun. Wish I could do it with you.

I can't decide which is more important, being happy with my living situation or being able to run a sweet 16-mile loop from my front door.
How much snow did you get up there? We got a dusting.
Is the nipmuck trail you refer to part of the marathon in the spring? That'd be a fun one to do.
